Tracking Issues

When the treatment plan is staying on course and the patient is compliant, we say the plan is "tracking."

However, sometimes the plan strays off course.  The causes can be combined into three categories.

Some common causes for tracking issues are patient noncompliance, insufficient spacing in the teeth or insufficient pressure from the appliance.

Thoroughly educating the patient about what to expect with clear aligners and the negatives of noncompliance can avoid many tracking issues before they start.

During a check in meeting, you may be able to see salvia build up or tissue becoming discolored.

If the patient mentions that they are finding the clear aligner ill-fitting or overly uncomfortable, do not continue on with the treatment. Double-check the case and review the treatment with Orthosnap before continuing.
