What is the first step in preparing a patient for OrthoSnap aligners?

Before doing anything else, you want to make sure your patient is fully informed about aligner treatment. This includes patient education and answering all their questions.

Proper patient education is key to your patient’s positive results. In fact, if you peruse patient reviews regarding clear aligner therapy, you will see that most of the complaints are related to poor patient education. For instance, top negative reviews included discussions about unexpected discomfort, the difficulties with removing aligners, and the challenges of planning meals and oral hygiene. You can keep
from getting these negative reviews by providing open, honest discussions about these topics.

Many providers choose to create additional documents for patients to sign that serve as confirmation and proof of complete understanding. Use of any additional agreements or forms is completely at your discretion, but we do encourage it.
Remember, informed consent implies the patient is fully informed. We recommend you review an example of the Informed Consent form with your patient. This allows your patient to ask more detailed questions if they don’t understand something and helps prepare them for issues and potential risks that can arise related to clear aligner treatment.

This document represents a legal agreement between you and your patient proving they understand the risks and want to continue with treatment. We suggest you do not take it lightly.

Once the informed consent form is signed, it is your responsibility to keep it on file for future reference.
